Individual Working Alone (IWA)

COURSE AIM

This three day course is intended to meet the requirement of NR/L2/CTM/021.

NO OF DELEGATES: The maximum number of delegates is 8.

COURSE DURATION

3 Day Initial course
1.5 Day Recertification course

OBJECTIVE

Carry out recertification of the delegate’s Personal Track Safety Competence.

To enable suitably qualified staff to carry out the Duties of an Individual Working Alone as set out in HB6, HB7, HB8, HB9, HB13, the Rule Book GE/RT 8000 Series and competence requirements of NR/L2/CTM/021 and NR/L2/OHS/019.

DELIVERY

The course will be presented by trainers in the classroom using the accompanying visual aids, supplemented by trackside sessions. All delegates must be given the complete course. Other appropriate visual aids can be shown and discussed, sufficient time being allowed to answer delegate’s points.

It is not allowed to deliver any initial training course and recertification course during the same training event.

COMPETENCE

The instructions will be followed by theory and practical assessments. Successful delegates will be recommended for assessment of competence under Employer’s Competence Management System.

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum age of 18

Meets the entry requirements of PTS competence.

Good level of literacy required

PRE-COURSE REQUIREMENTS

Must hold a valid Sentinel Track Safety Card and meet the requirements of NR/L2/CTM/021 – Competence and Training in Track Safety.

Meet the medical requirements of Network Rail Standard NR/L2/OHS/00124 Competence Specific Fitness Medical Requirements

In addition the requirements of Network Rail Standard NR/L1/OHS/051 (Drugs & Alcohol) must be met.

It is the responsibility of delegates’ Local Manager to decide upon their suitability to attend this course, in accordance with the current issue of NR/L2/CTM/021 – Competence and Training in Track Safety.
