COSS – OLP / CRP

COURSE DURATION: Both courses are 1⁄2 day course runs concurrently with COSS course when required.

OLP INITIAL COURSE

COURSE AIM

  1. By correctly interpreting points of detail, to enable trainers to develop relevant parts of the Rule Book and Network Rail Specification NR/L2/CTM/021 into a training course regarding the COSS OLP duties.
  2.  
  3. To instruct staff on correctly determining their responsibilities and duties when acting as Controller of Site Safety OLP (COSS OLP) and setting up a Safe System of Work for people On or Near the Line.

NO OF DELEGATES: The maximum number of delegates is 8.

OBJECTIVE

At the end of this course delegates will be able to: 

  1. Demonstrate their ability to interpret correctly relevant parts of the Rule Book, and Network Rail Specification NR/L2/CTM/021 when acting as COSS OLP.

Demonstrate their understanding and ability to set up a safe System of Work before any group of staff are allowed to go on or Near the Line.

DELIVERY

The course will be presented by trainers in the classroom using the accompanying visual aids. All delegates must be given the complete course. Other appropriate visual aids can be shown and discussed, sufficient time being allowed to answer delegate’s points.

It is not allowed to deliver any initial training course and recertification course during the same training event.

COMPETENCE

The instructions will be followed by theory and practical assessments. Successful delegates will be recommended for assessment of competence under Employer’s Competence Management System.

PRE-COURSE REQUIREMENTS

Must hold a valid Sentinel Track Safety Card and meet the requirements of NR/L2/CTM/021 – Competence and Training in Track Safety.

Meet the medical requirements of Network Rail Standard NR/L2/OHS/00124 Competence Specific Fitness Medical Requirements

In addition the requirements of Network Rail Specification NR/L1/OHS/051 (Drugs & Alcohol) must be met. 

It is the responsibility of delegates’ Local Manager to decide upon their suitability to attend this course, in accordance with the current issue of NR/L2/CTM/021 – Competence and Training in Track Safety.

CRP INITIAL COURSE

COURSE AIM

  1. By correctly interpreting points of detail, to enable trainers to develop relevant parts of the Rule Book and Network Rail Specification NR/L2/CTM/021 into a training course regarding the COSS CRP duties.
  2. To instruct staff on correctly determining their responsibilities and duties when acting as Controller of Site Safety CRP (COSS CRP) and setting up a Safe System of Work for people On or Near the Line. 

NO OF DELEGATES: The maximum number of delegates is 8.

OBJECTIVE  

At the end of this course delegates will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate their ability to fulfil the duties of a COSS who receives a CRP when working in a DC Electrified area.
  2. Demonstrate their understanding and ability to set up a Safe System of Work before any group of staff for which that COSS is responsible are allowed to work on or Near DC Electrified Lines.
