Baildon landslip emergency work

On Tuesday 7th July, Yorkshire experienced flash flooding which caused a landslip on the Bradford Forster Square to Ilkley line.

The line was closed and working closely with our customer, AMCO, Trac Rail mobilised an RRV to begin the tidying up process.

The water had caused the slip to undermine the sleeper ends, so stabilisation was required to build up the banking and re-lay the ballast. Time was critical on the busy commuter line to cause minimal disruption.

Materials were brought to the access by the local supplier and run to site by Trac Rail. All of the ballast had been washed away, so new stone was required to rebuild the shoulder of the track. The RRV then profiled the area and brushed the sleepers to create a perfect finish.

The line was handed back and the customer was keen to comment on the timely manner and way that the emergency works had been delivered by Trac Rail.

Mark Waddington from AMCO commented:

"I would like to extend my thanks to all involved over the last couple of days for their commitment, which ensured the successful delivery of the works"
