Minister for Transport Visits Stromeferry

Keith Brown, the Scottish Minister for Transport, visited TRAC’s site at Stromeferry this week and saw first hand the complexity of the ongoing job at the landslip.

Along with Director of Highland Council TEC Services Neil Gillies and Chairman of TEC Services John Laing, the Minister was given a tour of the site by our Operations Director Angus MacGregor.

The particularly difficult nature of a landslip such as this one has not surprisingly attracted the attention of a number of different groups, none more so than the local commuters who have had to live with the disruption of the road closure for the last two months. Technical difficulties which arose as the job progressed have resulted in the delay of the road opening and TRAC is working hard to ensure it can be back in use as soon as it is safe for the public. The collaborative efforts of TRAC, Highland Council, Network Rail and Transport Scotland will hopefully guarantee the successful delivery of what has been a most challenging project for our engineers.
