Network Rail Westwood National Rail Plant Show

The Network Rail Westwood National Rail Plant Show took place Monday May 23rd to Friday May 27th.

The event was a huge success with over 80 companies exhibiting and around 300 visitors attending each day.

At the TRAC stand the following machines were on display:

Lorry Mounted Crane Fed Chipper
Bremach Personnel Carrier
TD12 Mega Lifter – used for installing switches and crossings up to 100ft
Tractor Mulcher and chipper
Scorpion Ballast Regulator
Welding Unimog Equipment Carrier

The large variety of machines at TRAC’s stand attracted interest from several divisions within Network Rail. By far the most popular items were the Scorpion Ballast Regulator and the TD12. Both machines are unique in the respect that their capabilities are compared with those of trains. Currently no other road rail machine can complete the works of a train and so it wasn’t surprising that the machines attracted such attention. PWAY were particularity interested in the TD12 for switch and crossings work as reported in Network Rail’s ‘The Main News’.

TRAC Scorpion Ballast Regulator

The 2150 unimog/welding unimog attracted attention from various sectors. Along with the mulchers and chippers on display, the machine is being considered for vegetation clearance off-track. In addition, its ability to move rails with the attached crane makes it a flexible and efficient machine.

On the strength of the show we have successfully been awarded de-vegetation works on LNE North and South as well as work in the North of London for the Scorpion Ballast Regulator. The TD12 is currently being considered for major contracts to complete rail removals on LNW.

Work was even secured for the Unimog Shunter which was not even in attendance at the show!

And if the machines weren’t enough excitement, the TRAC Cup Cakes were a hit with everyone who visited us!!
